WNBA star Brittney Griner is appealing her conviction for narcotics possession and trafficking, as the US government works on a prisoner-swap deal with Russia.

Brittney Griner, the US basketball star jailed for nine years in Russia on drugs charges, has appealed against her conviction for narcotics possession and trafficking, Ms Griner's lawyer confirmed to Reuters on Monday.

Ms Blagovolina and co-counsel Alexander Boykov had said after the conviction that the sentence was excessive, and in similar cases defendants had received an average sentence of about five years, with about a third of them being granted parole.

Amazing ur reporting of a usa citizen in Russian prison but ur neglect in reporting australian citizens locked up in british prison under the orders of usa politicians to send a message to media to not report on crimes by gov is sinister assange auspol abcnews

All the Americans meat heads who were once raised on “leave no man behind” has devolved into a mature politics. Pretty poor form.

A convicted Russian arms dealer a.k.a. ‘Merchant of Death’ in exchange for an America-hating lesbian pothead basketballer? As if she didn't know she was packing cannabis before she left? One person to blame..Herself

Guilty as sin, but her colour or Biden's corruption might get her off (at enormous cost to the US).

Hwy didn't she went to Bali?

Lock her up and throw away the keys. Teach the USA a lesson for what they have done to Julian Assange.
