Former Liberal staffer Brittany Higgins says she had a 'robust' discussion with the Prime Minister about the way she was treated in the wake of coming forward with her rape allegation.

Former Liberal staffer Brittany Higgins says she had a "robust" discussion with the Prime Minister at a meeting this afternoon.

Ms Higgins said the pair also talked about reforming the legislation that staffers were hired under, known as the Members of Parliament or MoPS act. "We had a discussion about what needs to happen in terms of the MoPS Act, where there needs to be better safeguards," the former staffer said."It was robust, but ultimately, in the end, I think there was a consensus that reform needs to happen."

System didn’t let her down she did by making poor choices

When does the questioning of Bruce Lehrmann begin? There are four women wanting justice and a PM wanting the police to do zilch! This is a politically directed form of justice! Never before seen in this country!

The system?

He has finally started addressing her as Miss Higgins and not Brittany

Thoughts and prayers....

Once a liberal always a liberal.. even if your raped by one apparently... this is all PR

Really? It’s the system.. not the person who raped her? Not the security guards, not department employees, not the police, not the Ministers, not those who sent her to Perth to work on the election, not those preferring her be silent rather than cared for? The system is people!

I just find it hard that the emphasis is on people that had no influence or knew that the rape was occurring Where is the perpetrator why is she not more outraged at him Or outrage at the security who shouldn’t have allowed them in The system and process for such need to improve

its pretty hard to find the invisible man who goes around raping women

Still waiting for police to give their findings? That's the only system to deal with acts of criminality. The ABC is not the judge jury and executioner in our system...

Well done Brittany.

He let her down. He never takes responsibility for anything. I hate him (I rarely say this about anyone)

Morrison talks to some genocidal, celestial fairy and thinks it talks back. How could anyone trust a lunatic fantasist who, perhaps not ironically, has no morals?

Scott Morrison met this

Nice to see no announcement from the PM about this. Shows how he is more interested in complaining about cancel culture and not sorting his shit party out.

Lot of idiots tweeting here. The 'system' is the mechanism that employs staffers and resolves issues, i.e. what we would call HR. Any political party at any stage could have 'fixed' this. So unsure how this all sits with one PM.

Here we go, he 'agreed', so what is he going to do about it and when ?

The system being the one he's responsible for.

How good's a rape scotty?

More useless words from ScottMorrisonMP. When is he going to be arrested and charged Scott?

Couldn’t comment on FB. Has the rapist been arrested, when is his court appearance? Meeting ps mean nothing without action.

System didn't let her down. The system was going to terminate her employment for code of conduct breach. Speaking out got the desired result.

How can you have a frank and honest discussion with a habitual lier, something stinks here.

A philosophical question to ponder- if ScoMo has a meeting and there is no one there for the photo op, did it really happen?

Seems like the liberal national party are alright now, it wasn't their fault it was the system ffs, it seems to me that this is a fkn scam.

Which system let her down, the one where you make a complaint of criminal conduct to law enforcement, they gather evidence, and lay charges where your allegations are then subjected to legal scrutiny, guilt is determined and punishment met out? That one? auspol

Now she's out of the way 'done and dusted' what next Peter Dutton.

Did he also acknowledge he let her down by not meeting with Brittany for nearly 2 months after the news of her allegations first broke? Was he ashamed? australiasshame auspol

What about some all round personal responsibility...

So the presumption of innocence has been taken away and now allegations are all we need. While it may be yet be tested, until then allegations are obviously enough. It doesn't bode well for our personal liberties.

I agree. She shouldn’t have been allowed in Parliament House drunk off her head in the early hours of the morning with some bloke. Bloody disgraceful.

As I said you getting too much to go out and get drunk on tax paier money

What a fucking revelation 👏

It wasn't 'the system', it was LNP Ministers who let Ms Higgins down, and let's not forget Morrison himself and the role he played as a gaslighting tosser. ABC left out reference to the discussion between Albanese and Ms Higgins. Deliberate?

The system he leads

Remember folks he IS the system.

ScottyFromMarketing still does not get it. Ms Higgins had a robust discussion. That implies a disagreement. Ms Higgins was or is a Liberal Party member. If this is the way they treat one of their own, just imagine how they would treat you, others or I.

'The system' let her down. And by 'system' we mean 'the Liberal Party of which Scotty is Parliamentary Leader' and 'the Government of which Scotty is the Prime Minister'

‘Enough is enough’: Brittany’s plea to PMFormer Liberal staffer Brittany Higgins has emerged from her meeting with Prime Minister Scott Morrison, declaring “enough is enough” on the code of silence surrounding sexual harassment and violence towards women. What happened at the meeting? I’m guessing workplace harassment was narrowed to sexual harassment as (currently) women most affected, nothing was said about abusive women or abused men, and taxpayer $ to be transferred to 1 or more favoured feminist ngo/s Drunken bad sex still isnt..oh..wait....theres no trial?....sooo there is that Did she get the job or money she was after
