Trolls and critics have swamped the museum's social media accounts, demanding it return a towering artefact taken from Easter Island.

In a post aiming to mobilise his one million followers, Milfort urged followers to demand the museum return a towering moai, or statue, known as Hoa Hakananai'a.A basalt Easter Island Head figure, known as Hoa Hakananai'a, translated as "lost or stolen friend" is displayed at the British Museum. Since January, the museum's Instagram, Facebook and YouTube accounts have been lashed by online criticism, forcing comments on some posts to be deactivated.

The moai was removed from the island in November 1868 by the crew of the British ship HMS Topaze under the command of Commodore Richard Powell.
