Just three years ago DWF slashed its Aussie headcount. Now the insurance-focused business is bulking up again, buying local claims management firm Proclaim.

| British law firm DWF has bought Melbourne-based insurance claims management business Proclaim, as the newly delisted company kicks off an Australian expansion.

“I expect this acquisition to be a catalyst for growth ... I think this will attract clients’ attention, and also attract senior talent in law firms to think about whether they should join us.” DWF first moved into the Australian market in 2017, when it bought claims management company Triton Global. It now has about 70 staff, mostly in Brisbane but also on the Gold Coast and in Sydney. Besides insurance, it also has a smaller employment and health-and-safety business, and a construction practice.“This gives us a great opportunity to build off that and try to develop more litigation capability around that in Melbourne.
