His mum Leisa kept vigil by his bedside at the Royal Surrey County Hospital in the English town of Guildford, where he was transferred by special ambulance to which six firefighters carried him. “He’s probably had about eight lives and I thought the doctors would be able to save him again, but sadly it wasn’t possible,” the 55-year-old said.
