Standing on the Kurilpa Bridge in Brisbane, over the wide, churning snake of a river that he loves so much, Dalton shakes his head in amazement: more than a million copies sold of his autobiographical novel, Boy Swallows Universe ; athat has now screened to more than 7 million; crowds that stop us while we stand and chat on this bridge and raise three cheers for Dalton. Really.He laughs at the absurdity of it all because he was supposed to end up a long way down from here.
But as this series explores, those who are driven to create are powerless to resist it. And Dalton is insistent that's what saved him.
