UK Prime Minister BorisJohnson has vowed to “toughen up sentences for serious and violent offences',' as the British capital reels after the LondonBridgeAttack.

01/12/2019UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has vowed to “toughen up sentences for serious and violent offences',' as the British capital reels after the London Bridge terror attack. Speaking to Sky News near the scene of the incident, Mr Johnson said he has wanted to beef up early release legislation for a long time, and it is something outlined in the Conservative Party manifesto.

“We want to toughen up sentences for serious and violent offences, and I’ve said for a long time now that I think the practice of automatic, early release where you cut a sentence in half and let really serious violent offenders out early simply isn't working,” Mr Johnson said. “We’ve had some very good evidence of how that isn’t working with this case.” The Prime Minister's comments come after Friday's terror attack that left two dead and injured three.
