UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has remained firm on his stance and insists he would not have attended a 'bring your own booze' party during lockdown if he knew it was against the rules.

"I want to begin by repeating my apologies to everyone for the misjudgements that I've made, that we have made in Number 10 and beyond, whether in Downing Street or throughout the pandemic," Mr Johnson said on Tuesday.

"Because frankly, I can't imagine why it would have gone ahead, or it would have been allowed to go ahead if it was against the rules."The Prime Minister said he's"absolutely categorical" nobody warned him the event was against the law after his former senior aide Dominic Cummings claimed he told him the party was a mistake.

"On 20 May, after the PPS sent the invitation to the drinks party, a very senior official replied by email saying the invite broke the rules," he wrote on"The PPS went to the official’s office where they discussed it. The PPS declined to withdraw the invite. I told the PPS the invite broke the rules.
