Millions of Australians are now able to access a COVID-19 booster shot one month earlier than expected, after a change to the national rollout in response to the Omicron variant.

The wait for a booster has been reduced from six months after the second vaccination to just fiveAround 670,000 Australians have already received a booster shot

The federal government has acted on advice from the vaccine advisory body ATAGI, and the wait for a booster has been reduced from six months after a second vaccination to five. The decision to provide earlier access has been made to help slow the spread of the new variant — which does not appear to cause more serious illness — and to guard against any waning immunity over time.Chief Medical Officer Paul Kelly last week said there was no need to change the timing of the booster shot.

But much more has been learned about the Omicron variant since then, including its transmissibility, and the advice has now been changed.Watch

Does anyone still believe the vaccines stop the spread at all?

HEALTH FIRST and STAY SAFE.

Big deal. One month. Another government fuck up?

BS news healine

Yet it has never stopped the spread so this is just misinformation

AZ should be used as booster too as a choice. Cost only 2.15 a dose...to taxpayers

$cience..

Couldn’t get one last thursday…no stock..nice work khunt and scumo and the army distribution man (name irrelevant)

Those who had no issues with Astra Zeneka should have AZ back as booster. People should have a choice Besides AZ is less costly. The AstraZeneca jab is the cheapest of the main Covid-19 vaccines, priced at just $2.15 whilst Pfizer Moderna are more than $20

What? Why would it slow the spread? It won't stop you getting it, it just stops you dieing from it. What an idiotic article.

WHY ? The Omicron so far is way milder like a COLD. This is becoming a bit too much conspiracy on behalf of the mainstream actually.

Let this sink in: “GOVERNMENTS globally have collectively MADE ordinary participation in society CONTINGENT upon CONSUMPTION of a PRODUCT of a PRIVATE COMPANY under direct or indirect THREAT of FORCE” Irish Senator Sharon Keogan COVID19 auspol

Ummmm.... they don't work very well... any chance us tax payers could get out taxes back?🤔

Is Omicron the End of the Pandemic?

Imagine being in a pandemic with a deadly virus & nature gifted us a milder form of that virus but instead of embracing it, we slapped it down so we could keep the more deadly version. 😉

And until then we have 100s of thousands of unwitting carriers hospitalising and potentially killing our kids. Good one. Keep borders shut and stamp on O Omicron before its too late. Fully vaxed visa has 1 in 36 who still get Omicron and can pass it on to kids being hospitalized

Pfizer say they are confident emerging antiviral drugs will prove effective in combating the Omicron variant even as they acknowledge that existing vaccines provide less protection against the new strain.

It has been made clear (in abundance) that boosters are only warranted and beneficial for those who have compromised immune systems. The true pandemic that we face now is greed and waste.

5mths instead of 6mths, really? Other countries are giving it at 3mths regardless of the initial vaccine type.😕

Are people getting it yet?
