Bondi sculpture of hope seeded from Lennon's anthem Imagine

, has been installed overlooking Bondi Beach as a beacon of hope during COVID-19.is the work of Prague-based artist Milan Kuzica and stands in place of Sculpture by the Sea, postponed due to the pandemic restrictions.

Symbolising the birth of new life, it has been installed at the south Bondi headland in Marks Park looking out across the ocean at the entrance to the popular Bondi to Tamarama coastal walk."Being on the very edge of Australia hopefully this message of hope will be picked up around the world," said David Handley, founding director of Sculpture by the Sea."It wasn't to be part of this year's exhibition – we showed it in a different spot in 2017 and had kept it in storage.

More than 100 international and Australian artists had been selected to take part in this year's event and had collectively spent $1.5 million to $1.8 million on their art before the decision was taken to postpone. All these artists will remain in the line-up for the delayed exhibition when it is allowed to take place, possibly early the new year.embraced by political activists in countries behind the Iron Curtain.

"Today, the threats of Lennon's time have largely changed, and new ones have arrived, today we live with a dangerous invisible enemy," he said in a statement. O.k, I don't like to criticise art, being an artist myself and knowing that art means different things to different people. IMO though, I personally think it looks like a lightly crushed drinking straw and as a musician, I have no idea what it has to do with Lennon or Imagine
