abc.net.au/news/cyclone-forecast-for-queensland-weather-heat/101939062The Bureau of Meteorology is keeping an eye on a low-pressure system that could turn into a "severe tropical cyclone" by the end of the week.

"It is likely to then start drifting towards the south-east while intensifying, so potentially could reach severe tropical cyclone status by Friday." "We will see a large and powerful easterly swell build across the south-east Queensland coastline towards the end of the week, so Thursday, Friday and into [the] early weekend," he said."We will see a bit of an increase in showers along the Queensland coastline, but no widespread heavy rain predicted out of that system."If the low-pressure system forms, it will likely be called Gabrielle or Herman.

He said even if the system does not directly impact or come within 50 kilometres of the island, there will still be an increase in wind and waves. Bev and her husband Nev spend every summer camped at Wreck Rock, halfway between Bundaberg and Agnes Water, collecting data on the turtles that come ashore each night to lay eggs. The couple said big seas can pose problems for hatchlings.

Seriously abc? A) your article says it’s predicted to stay 500-700km offshore, B) it’s not even a classified as a storm yet C) IF it gets to Category 1, it’s 60-90km/h winds. That’s like a windy day in Sydney. This is the biggest nothing-burger.
