Travel is stressful enough at the best of times, let alone when a major aircraft manufacturer starts having problems. Here's how you might be affected by the groundings of the Boeing 737 MAX 8.

Fiji Airways, which operated two of the aircraft and has three more on order, has also grounded the aircraft temporarily and switched to the 737-800 on its flights to Australia.

American Airlines Group said it was working to rebook customers due to fly on the 737 MAX as quickly as possible after the United States banned the aircraft. Given the extent that airlines were making to help customers reach their destination, he said most travellers in and out of Australia were likely to be unaffected.

Mr Fuller said the insurance council recommended flyers talk to their travel agent, or airline directly to see if they were likely to be affected by the groundings.

The new Boeing 737 MAX-8: two crashes in six monthsThe 737 MAX-8, a new plane from US aircraft manufacturer Boeing, faces fresh scrutiny of its safety record after being involved in two crashes in six months Honestly who would get on an Ethiopian jet plane anyway ?
