Blacktown City Council has announced the closure of playgrounds and exercise equipment in parks across the local government area amid rising COVID-19 infections.

The council is one of 12"areas of concern" across Sydney, with police recommending tougher measures be implemented to curb the spread of the virus.

The council said by banning residents from using playgrounds and exercise equipment it was hoping to prevent gatherings from taking place. "Please note that the latest closures and the new health orders do not restrict children from walking, running, exercising and playing in our parks and playing fields under the supervision of parents and carers."

Close the playgrounds to avoid slide into disasterI definitely don’t like playgrounds being closed, in fact, as a mother of two children under five, I was moved to the F-word by the news. But I do think it’s necessary, writes Kelly Eng. | OPINION We don't get to see the science, Daniel Andrews, Martin Foley or Jeroen Weimar are not more qualified to judge the science than any of us. Brett Sutton isn't an expert on everything medical. And if there's a problem with playground, then tackle the problem, not close it off. people who clutch pearls over swear words should not be writing opinion pieces about anything except perhaps the new baby food flavours from Heinz

Playground transmission investigated as children COVID-19 cases spikeMelbourne&x27;s skate parks and playgrounds are roped off this morning amid concern about child infections. But how many in hospital? A runny nose isn’t going to kill them. If parents and teachers are spreading it, naturally their kids will catch it. The question is why kids from known tier 1 sites are playing at parks and not isolating. And the Liberals are bagging Andrews for closing them down.

Ffs Unfortunately, many parents need to take responsibility I have walked past way too many playgrounds with parents catching up with friends not socially distancing and often not wearing masks correctly. I am the parent of a primary school child who will suffer but I can see why 😞

We’re already in lockdown, curfew, unable to travel past 5km’s, kids missing out on over 180 days of school (virtually a whole year of schooling), our sh*t is being tested, can’t shop at our chosen stores, can’t visit fam in the country, now this! NO. Really? Stop .

Playground transmission probed as COVID-19 spikes among childrenHealth authorities are worried about the spread of COVID-19 among children after a number of suspected cases of outdoor transmission. covid19 lockdown Remember at the start of the pandemic workers were deployed into the suburbs to spray disinfectant on benches, poles, fences etc. We don’t do that anymore, cos we know better. Closing playgrounds is to make a point, not to stop transmission that’s never occurred. RSV virus is making its rounds in NZ, affecting babies. Be aware🥰 More made up lies from CHO and Dan. It would be great for journalists to fact check those two and the Covid commander.
