Energy Minister Dr Anthony Lynham said under the new agreement signed with government-owned CleanCo, wind and solar energy from Queensland’s Southern Downs and Western Downs would be powering most stores across the state.
Coles CEO Steven Cain said the major change would help Coles’ commitment to becoming “the most sustainable supermarket” and “make a significant contribution to the growth of renewable energy supply in Australia”. To be able to deliver the power, CleanCo will buy 400 megawatts of new renewable energy from ACCIONA’s Macintyre wind farm and build its own 102 megawatt wind farm at nearby Karara.
So they are going to pay more money to their electricity provider so they can pretend that they somehow control which electrons from which power production facility end up where.... Meanwhile most of their electricity will still actually be supplied by coal and gas.
So how much more will they charge the customer to pay for this?
How much extra is that gonna add to an already expensive shopping cart?
Did Coles take job Keeper and use it to pay bonuses and dividends ?
So lots of melted ice creams from their intermittently powered freezers then huh?
