Biden's red line, Trump's make-or-break moment and a brain worm: US politics takes some unusual turns

Welcome back to your weekly update on US politics, as North America bureau chief Jade Macmillan catches you up on the biggest developments in America as we hurtle towards election day in November.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has argued the area is the last remaining stronghold for Hamas, whose military capabilities need to be destroyed.But as Palestinians fled in panic, the leader of Israel's closest ally stepped up his messaging on the prospect of an all-out assault."We're not walking away from Israel's security, we're walking away from Israel's ability to wage war in those areas.

Netanyahu has remained defiant, saying in a video message: "If we have to stand alone, we will stand alone." According to the judge, Trump was shaking his head and "cursing audibly" in a way that had the potential to intimidate Ms Daniels as she testified about their meeting in 2006. Even before there's a verdict in the "hush money" case, there's a chance the former president could be sent to jail.

The 70-year-old says he's now healthy as he tries to get on as many ballots around the country as possible ahead of polling day.
