Crowds have gathered for the eighth day of protests across the US as the national guard and military are deployed and state leaders move to quell any further violence. More than 5,600 arrests have been made across the country after President Donald Trump gave state governors an ultimatum in which he "strongly advised" the deployment of the national guard to "dominate the streets".
"Our country is crying out for leadership. Leadership that can recognise pain and the deep grief of communities that have had a knee on their neck for a long time," Mr Biden said. President Trump called protestors in New York "low-lives" and "losers" who are ripping the city apart. Mr Biden said Mr Trump was consumed with his own blinding ego and was exacerbating unrest across the country. "I won't traffic in fear and division.
