NSW is aggressively pursuing the use of more QR customer check-in codes, as Victoria scrambles to get its system off the ground.

The NSW government's Service NSW app – which works with the government-developed QR code – is being used by more than half a million people, but the government is determined to reach 3 million people, or two-thirds of all adults in the state, by the time JobKeeper expires at the end of March.Credit:Despite companies including Bunnings, Officeworks and hospitality giant Merivale using the government's QR code, as well as many private versions, NSW has not ruled out mandating its use.

NSW recorded four new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases on Thursday, including two students from Malek Fahd Islamic School in western Sydney, and two household contacts. Anyone who attended a class that was scheduled to begin five minutes before or five minutes after one of the classes listed below, or a class immediately before or after the sessions, was considered a casual contact:Sunday October 18, 8.55am – 9.40amWednesday October 21, 5.15pm – 6pmSaturday October 24, 7.10am – 8.10amTuesday October 27, 6.45am – 7.30amMs Berejiklian said it could be an economic disaster for NSW and the country to reopen borders too early.

Is The Age scrambling to stay relevant?

Thanks again to the Age....not ”scrambling” here, just a loaded headline...try reading the Guardian article for a balanced and reasonable perspective

How is this headline news? It’s playing politics, sadly like much of the focus of this pandemic response. I went to the pub yesterday and scanned a QR code, other shops I’ve been to have pen and paper - they are doing it, just in different ways. Geez, move on!

I’ve noted that the couple of Op Shops in our area don’t have a customer register.

No one is scrambling in Vic and not many are taking up NSW’s QR system. theAge is not worth wiping your arse with nowadays.

Our weakest link is Dans ego! Why can’t we use the same QR system NSW is using? Why do we have to create our own? This virus isn’t killing us it’s Dan!! We are the only state that is in trouble! ITS SO CLEAR!

Even if you didn't die, your privacy and digital identity is dead for. Go to the jungles and become a hermit.

Went to Welsford St Cafe and Billabong Nursery in Shepparton, Regional Victoria..both using QR check ins and have been for some time. notsureaboutscrambling!

Now known QR code info being on sold!

Gladys the shredder is she still Premier ?

In 'gold standard' NSW, a person went to the gym whilst infectious for 13 days straight! What happened to the gym marshall who should have barred entry to the infectious person? QR codes should not be treated as a silver bullet

Shame The Age for continuing to beat our state down.

Both states have had 8 months to get their tracing up to scratch!! What happened

Tht is the right way to go! Instead of locking everyone up who did the right thing & wiping off the economy, QR tracing is proven effective in contact tracing to prevent community spread of covid19. Why didn’t the leaders implement it ASAP? Fools !!!

Why doesn’t the National app do that ?

QR code’s are put forward as a silver bullet just like the dreaded dud of an app. Twaddle. In Japan, many business are still using pen and paper. Not everyone has the capacity and wherewithal to use tech. There needs to be a mix of data collection modes.

Some people don’t have smartphoned

it's local Melbourne tech. Support local. Not some government created shit.

Naw ran their own QR code’s despite a govt one available- calm the hell down

WHO explicitly rejected contact tracing prior to this. There is no need for this. Please think about what we're giving up.

I can assure right now that whatever the Vic Govt come up with, will be a clusterfuck 🙄

More misinformation from The Age.

If you want to see an impressive and cohesive COVID app and QR code system, NZ is killing it. I wish we had this:

It's NSW that's scrambling. They came out of lockdown months ago. We came out of lockdown two days ago.

If only we had an app that kept you COVIDSAFE and could tell where you went to help with contacttracing

Bunnings are not using the QR app in NSW. Not using pen or paper either. No collection of customer info.

How can we still be scrambling? Surely not true...

Victoria isn't scrambling to do shit, venues are already running QR codes right now to whatever capture system they like. This is such a non story.

Ohh.. Glady why they put your picture as heroic saviour of the world when you can't even pick a single person out of 7 billion to love, lie and confide. Waiting for an aboriginal female to lead the NewSouthWales where the first ship arrived in Australia hopeless dreaming

So much for that Covid safe app!!!!! Waist of taxpayers money!!!!!!!!!!
