RMIT’s Professor of International Diplomacy Joe Siracusa says Dermocratic nominee Bernie Sanders “looks incredibly electable” and to “say he cannot win is really dumb”. Mr Sanders was declared the winner of the February 22 Nevada caucus which placed him closer to being selected as the Democratic candidate in the 2020 presidential race. Mr Siracusa told Sky News “the Republicans are saying he cannot win because they are hoping that is the case. He is the guy they do not want to face”.
He said Mr Sanders “looks unstoppable” because he “has got a great story” which is that “the American working people have been screwed over by global elites and he is offering them some concessions here”. Claims have been made against Mr Sanders saying Russia is attempting to interfere with the elections and provide support to the Sanders’ campaign. “Those people who are going to get Bernie in, those 19 to 45-year-olds, have never heard of the Cold War,” Mr Siracusa said.
