Josh Frydenberg has the sniffles (he insists it's not 'the' virus) and is getting through his most important day since becoming Treasurer on three hours' sleep | rharris334

A little over a fortnight earlier, Frydenberg was on a plane from Melbourne to Riyadh, as Saudi Arabia hosted its first G20 Finance Ministers’ summit. It was the last week in February and the International Monetary Fund was tipping GDP growth would be revised down by 0.1 percentage points, from the current projected 3.3 per cent to 3.2 per cent for 2020.

The next day, Prime Minister Scott Morrison announced his Treasurer was working with Treasury to discuss options for, should it be required, a "targeted, modest and scalable" stimulus package. "We had a clear set of principles and we just knew this economic challenge was occurring and we needed to front-end the package to really get the money flowing early," Frydenberg says. "It's a watching brief and obviously we are not ruling out any further programs should it be required."

When asked, Frydenberg won't take the bait, saying only they were "very tough decisions" but "based on the best advice".

rharris334 Won't make any difference, he's still 'small time', not sleeping will achieve nothing.

rharris334 auspol during his elected term of office, Josh Frydenberg, should be fully transparent 24/7 and his activities should be a matter of public record. He may be an elite citizen but that doesn't stop him from doing the decent thing, especially in these difficult times.

rharris334 Sp reports say he tested positive... I assume he was tested by expert medical persons... But in his 'opinion' 'it's not the virus'... genius ...

rharris334 Poor diddums.

rharris334 Resign now

rharris334 Send him of to a concentration camp, for reassignment..

rharris334 Every dickhead is going to run off & get tested just over sniffles The virus wont take off for a month & then they will run out & get tested again Watching the public they have no idea or what it means to contain the WuhanPlague , most dont even wipe shopping trolleys & basket

rharris334 Perhaps, if he hadn’t put the economy on its knees, he would be getting more than 3 hours sleep now.

rharris334 I'm assuming he was in cabinet on Tuesday with Dutton though?

rharris334 Maybe get tested Josh. Then you can “insist”

rharris334 Wow. That must be difficult having 3 hours sleep Imagine going to work every day not knowing if today is the day a patient will cough on you and you will get CoronaVirus and die. That’s my life as a Dr. Sleep is a luxury in our business, get over it mate.

rharris334 People don't get the sniffles in March. Given the sheer number of people they meet, places they go and flights they catch I would consider MPs as superspreaders and avoid them if they 'had the sniffles'.

Doctor explains logic behind coronavirus testingAs the number of coronavirus cases in Australia passes 155, there are warnings up to 1.5 million people could be infected in NSW alone. so what is done to stop spreading it? because in Vic, there is a GP going ahead. Merkel is warning that up to 60-70% of Germans will be infected and only Australia, the land of unicorns that phart rainbows, claims that it will have only 20% of population infected. Great news, what a shame they are just as fake as unicorns that can phart rainbows. Are they preparing us for a herd immunity strategy - doing as little as possible - because the result of this will be many avoidable deaths, both in the population and our health front line workers. And what if it doesn’t work, what will it be, hoops? Akin to Russian roulette.

What a great read and that’s why they want to play for Wayne. Best of luck to our team for the season ahead Never heard of her Agree with Wayne but Latrell also needs to come to the party. A little humility would go a long way to help the situation.

Federal Government rejects calls for Parliament to be recalled next week to fast-track stimulusThe Morrison Government has rejected a push from Labor for Federal Parliament to be recalled next week to urgently deal with legislation related to the coronavirus stimulus package. Why? It’s a good call unless the LNP does care. Someone must ask ScottyfromMarketing why he will not recall parliament. In the wake of what's to come over coming months and the government's poor efforts to the Australian public, why don't they let people with superannuation access 10k of their super untaxed to prepare and plan ahead for at least the next 3 months and raise newstart and pensions Can go to footy Can’t recall parliament ScottyFomMarketing

Australia will ‘come out stronger and a more productive nation’: Treasurer | Sky News AustraliaTreasurer Josh Frydenberg says the Coalition’s efforts to restore the books after “inheriting a huge fiscal mess” has given the government the “financial firepower to use at a time when it’s needed”.\n\nThe treasurer and the prime minister announced on Thursday a $17.5 billion stimulus package which is “designed to keep Australian businesses in business and Australian workers in jobs”.\n\nMany comparisons have been drawn between the government’s stimulus package to fight the economic impact of coronavirus and the Rudd government’s stimulus in the wake of the Global Financial Crisis.\n\nMr Frydenberg told Sky News host Chris Smith the “GFC was a very different economic shock to this one” detailing how first and foremost the current crisis is a “health crisis which is having a significant economic impact”.\n\nThe treasurer said the Coalition government “returned the books balance to balance” after inheriting a “huge fiscal mess from our political opponents and now we can use that money effectively where it’s needed”.\n\n“There will be another side of this coronavirus and we want to come out stronger and a more productive nation as a result,” Mr Frydenberg said.\n\nImage: News Corp Australia 😂😂😂😂 You guy’s contributed to the debt and double it! Now you’re sending us into recession! Classic denial... Beating the financial crap out of the poor & disadvantaged for years just to try to stick a surplus on your resume is not a reasonable economic policy by any govt in my view. 🤣😅🤣
