The lawyer for former NSW Police officer Beau Lamarre-Condon says the charges of murdering Jesse Baird and Luke Davies at a Paddington home could be defensible, after earlier giving an update on his client’s life in jail.
On Tuesday, Lamarre-Condon, now a former officer, did not appear in the Downing Centre Local Court as his lawyer, John Walford, rose to his feet and spoke. “He’s okay, for the most part he’s okay,” Walford said when asked about Lamarre-Condon’s state in Silverwater prison.Walford said he was unsure if Lamarre-Condon would plead guilty to the alleged murders but, when asked if the charges were defendable, he replied “they could be”.
Also in the public gallery was Detective Sergeant Sasha Pinazza, the investigator credited with convincing Lamarre-Condon to allegedly reveal the location of Baird and Davies’ bodies. “This morning I was floating in a dam,” Lamarre-Condon allegedly told his friend the day before turning himself in to police. But Lamarre-Condon switched lawyers after his first court visit and Pinazza and Chief Inspector Glenn Brown were told the alleged killer was willing to co-operate after seeking new legal advice.
