The carcasses can be 12 metres long and could slowly decay for months in front of people's homes, but one resident says the opportunity is unique.

So many dead grey whales have washed up along parts of the US coastline this year that authorities have asked waterfront residents to volunteer their properties as a disposal site for the carcasses.A resident who has said yes to the request says the smell"isn't that bad"At least one Washington state landowner has agree to the request from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Fisheries, which said it had run out of places to take the dead whales.

Landowner Mario Rivera of Port Hadlock, Washington, told local media the smell was intermittent and"isn't that bad".

It would be a great opportunity too cut some steaks off them guilt free if they where in good condition

Look at the damage t the whales Is it post mortem or not?. Often whales will beach themselves if they are being attacked by Orcas or sharks because they would rather die on the beach than to continue to be ripped apart at sea and others in the pod will follow.

Death is now called a mortality event. 🙄
