Cricket Australia remains intent on staging the fourth Test at the Gabba despite Brisbane being forced into three days of hard lockdown | ChrisBarrett_

The fourth Test is due to start in Brisbane next Friday and a full crowd of 36,000 per day had been permitted.

As for India's appetite to head to Brisbane, it was unclear whether they would be further spooked by the sudden escalation of restrictions in the city.talks between CA and Board of Control for Cricket in IndiaCA has reassured the Indians that a deal signed off on by the Queensland government to allow players and staff out of their rooms to mingle together inside the hotel when not playingor training will remain in place for their week in the city.

"In Sydney, there are people coming to the ground and then going back and having dinner at a restaurant or having a gathering of 20, 30 people in a pub," Gavaskar said in commentary on Friday. The SCG would be a last-minute replacement for the Gabba if the Brisbane leg of the series was abandoned but such a decision can't be left until next week, with ground staff in Sydney needing time to prepare another Test pitch and venue officials requiring notice to begin plans.

ChrisBarrett_ Forget it, have it in Sydney. Covid is out of control in Brisbane (apparently)

ChrisBarrett_ It doesn’t start until next Friday so barring a significant outbreak they should be fine. This is why they’ve locked down straight away. I know it sounds like an overreaction, but much better this way than not doing anything. Good on them for going hard & early. AusVInd covid19
