The former deputy prime minister confirms to the ABC that he will seek to return to the Nationals leadership if both leader and deputy positions are spilled when the party meets to replace Bridget McKenzie.

Former deputy prime minister Barnaby Joyce will seek to return to the job he lost to scandal two years ago if the Nationals spill both leadership positions when they meet to replace outgoing deputy Bridget McKenzie.

"If there is a spill, I will stand. It is entirely up to them if they wish to spill," the former Nationals leader told the ABC., after weeks of pressure from a sports grants scandal. An investigation by the Prime Minister's department found Senator McKenzie breached ministerial rules in, which was awarded a $36,000 grant under a program she managed.

That investigation found she had followed the rules in administering the program, a stark contrast to a scathing auditor-general report that found the Government had favoured marginal and targeted seats in a $100 million pre-election cash splash.

Seriously. How does the public trust a politician with such low moral fibre? Step aside.

This man is walking, breathing ignorance. He is a very unintelligent and uneducated man.

Like Lazarus this corrupt individual rises to embarrass the Aust nation again

How good is Australia when Bridget McKenzie quits her job over a rotting scandal and it opens the door to have this guy back at the helm of the party she was deputy leader of?

It’s a lose lose situation!

Based on performance it should be DarrenChesterMP

This guy representing us on the world stage, is just not funny. Pathetic.

Great, the idiot wants back in.

The choice of dumb or dumber

Didn’t he want the government out of his life, just a short 6 weeks ago?

Darren Chester showed leadership required for the shambles that is the National Party. If Joyce gets up what happens to him and also Littleproud who made some effort during the crisis when not hectoring the Australian public

nonononononononononononono

Hmm I wonder where all those leaks came from

Oh God Noooooo! 😳

OMG. Back to square one. It’s all about him, isn’t it?! Seems all politicians are the same

If all we have is a choice between these 2 we are screwed. auspol
