The controversial Nationals backbencher says he still plans to leave parliament despite his efforts to install Barnaby Joyce as leader

Nationals leader Barnaby Joyce is hoping to persuade his controversial backbench colleague, George Christensen, to remain in federal Parliament beyond the next election despite the rogue MP’s assurances he is finished with politics.

He later failed to withdraw his preselection nomination in a stoush with Liberal-National Party officials in an attempt to claim a $105,600 “resettlement allowance” from the taxpayer. He said at the time he only contested the last election to ensure the Coalition held the seat and kept out a “Green-tinged Labor government”.

China warning: Joyce calls on MPs to prepare for end of Pax AmericanaThe new Deputy PM urged Coalition MPs to unite behind making Australia “as strong as possible as quickly as possible” when it could not rely on the US to guarantee regional security. CroweDM This is going to be like that time they brought back Hey Hey Its Saturday! and then everyone realised how out of date and embarrassing it was and ditched it. Hey Hey Its Barnaby! auspol CroweDM So this is either a call for oz to be a nuclear power, or justifying excessive defense spending on conventional weapons. CroweDM Joyce should have been ejected from politics 2 years ago, now the loose cannon is trying to talk up a storm of drivel about war thinking it will conduce to a coalition victory at next election when Aussies are only concerned about economic sanity not war hysteria. Alex Hawke rejects idea Biloela family children would've gotten different treatment if named 'Jane or Sally'In an interview with SBS News, the Immigration Minister has hit back at a suggestion Kopika and Tharnicaa Murugappan would've been treated differently by his government if they were named 'Jane or Sally'. Just look at our UK trade deal. BRITS are exempt from the farm labour requirements... Why? Mmmmm one guess. Why should good English folk have to work in the mud. Import Asians for that one!!
