The tourism industry is welcoming the announcement that cruise ships could be back in Australia two years after the Ruby Princess bungle sparked a COVID-19 outbreak in Sydney.

Mr Tehan said the resumption is "another piece of wonderful news" for the tourism industry and Australia continues to re-open to the world. On the vessel, 25 per cent of passengers had been tested for the virus and 12 people returned a positive result.
