A two-month-old baby is in hospital after being flung from a car window during an accident in Sydney's east overnight.

The driver, a 48-year-old woman, was allegedly driving an unregistered Toyota Tarago through Botany just after 7pm when she hit the gutter and crashed into a steel fence.The infant was taken to Sydney Children's Hospital in Randwick for observation however appeared to be uninjured.The driver suffered a minor wrist injury as was taken to Prince of Wales Hospital under police guard.

The Pagewood woman has since been charged with a series of driving offences and had her licence suspended.Police have completed a child at risk notification to Family and Community Services.
