When Newcastle's only LGBTIQ+ friendly venue 'went straight' the community rose to the challenge of filling the void, creating an award-winning festival that is gathering momentum.

The co-founder and president of Newcastle Pride"realised that we needed something, so I thought I'll start Newcastle Pride and see how it goes".

With tears in her eyes Ms McDougall recalled"a sense of pride" at seeing a sea of young and old faces beaming at that first fair day. The following year attendance doubled, and in 2020 the three-day event will be extended to a three-week program."But Newcastle Pride is offering a home for our community

"A place for us all to go and meet up and have some amazing times together, in a safe space and where everyone feels like they're home."In January Newcastle Pride Inc. was recognised as the Community Group of the Year by the City of Newcastle.

Time to end this festival of degeneracy.

Look the Mardi Gras brings in great income from tourism, and not just in Sydney. So the financial benefit is worth it, with out question our economy really needs and besides the huge domestic abuse within the LGBT community that goes highly unspoken, it's usually a 'clean' event.

We all live under heterosexual laws now, so the Mardi Gras is now redundant.

Typical ABC banging on about minorities again. Seriously you are a joke!

In before all the social retards come in and say how much they don’t care about this.
