Staff and commuters have been praised for their quick response in averting a tragedy after a man fell onto rail tracks at a Sydney's Redfern station last week. Warning: Some people may find the video of this incident confronting.

Staff and commuters have been praised for their quick response in averting a tragedy after a man fell onto rail tracks at a Sydney station. The incident occurred about 3pm last Friday, just minutes before a Cronulla-bound service on the T4 line was due to arrive at Redfern station.

In more "disturbing" vision that emerged overnight, a number of commuters can be seen jumping on the tracks to his rescue, while others can be heard screaming "Oh, f***!" as they catch a glimpse of the train approaching the platform. The Cronulla-bound train managed to stop just metres away from the man and those assisting him.

"When I saw that video I was horrified that somebody would be so blatantly ignorant about the situation that they are in," NSW Transport Minister David Elliott said.Police said the man was taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital with head and wrist injuries, but was arrested soon after and charged with breach of AVO.

OMG, the Men were useless, just looking and one videoing.

The two women knew what the situation was. The others were useless..more concerned with their phones and the 'oh I don't do train track rescues' type of attitude. Brave gals.👍

One of the few times a Sydney train arrived on time. The brave lady on the tracks is a true hero she deserves a reward, the males standing on the platform doing nothing could learn from her example.

In 2022 we still use flags to signal trains in an emergency?......FFS.....

ABC NO CREDIBILITY NETWORK

Incredible bravery from those women.

meanwhile… 5 or 6 young men just standing there . watching.

Two very brave women. The woman that jumped onto the tracks without a thought for her own safety -.wow.

What would happen with a driverless train?

'people need to take personal responsibility'. OK, but do members of the public have access to signal flags?

sydneytrains staff are so helpful not.

Watched the video. There was no sense of urgency apart from the first lady onto the tracks

And the creepy NSW rail minister just inferred on the ABC news that it was all the poor buggers fault. What a horrible, horrible state of affairs in NSW at the moment.
