The 45-year-old man was taken ashore in waters off Sandfly Creek about 6:30am and treated for exposure, before being taken to Townsville University Hospital in a stable condition. "Unfortunately, the current was relatively strong, and the boat drifted further away faster than they could swim back to the boat," he said.
"[He was] swimming in the direction of the coastline, exhausted, exposed to the elements of the ocean, and in shock in relation to his friend, who's still missing," he said.Sea and air search continues
