He would still be eligible to swim the event in Paris given he has posted a qualifying time in the lead-up to these trials. However, if two swimmers tonight go under Swimming Australia’s qualifying time of 14:54.29, Short won’t be allowed to enter the race at the Olympics.It would be an extremely tough blow for Short considering he is Australia’s premier 1500m freestyle swimmer and picked up a bronze medal in the event in Fukuoka last year. Short’s personal best of 14:37.
