Ash Barty reaps the benefits befitting a world number one in the Australian Open draw, while Nick Kyrgios and Rafael Nadal could meet in the fourth round.

Aussie world number one Ash Barty has enjoyed the benefits of her stature in the game, with a relatively easy draw for the Australian Open.Ash Barty's first match is against Lesia Tsurenko, who knocked Barty out of the Brisbane International in 2018Defending champion Naomi Osaka could play both Williams sisters before the semi-finals

While top-seeded Australian male Nick Kyrgios could face world number one Rafael Nadal in the fourth round, Barty kicks off against 120th-ranked Ukrainian Lesia Tsurenko. While there is a significant gap in the rankings, Tsurenko won the most recent match-up between them, knocking Barty out of the round of 16 at the 2018 Brisbane International.

The likely toughest match-up in Barty's part of the draw is American 18th-seed Alison Riske or former top-10 German Julia Goerges, both of whom she could face in the fourth round.

Australias had it coming for a while.

What was the Australian Open thinking? One might think, what could be more important than providing a safe and healthy workplace for the best tennis players in the world? But clearly money talks. Welcome to the commercial world of sport. | OPINION by Sam Duncan AusOpen Is it right to hold tennis qualifiers in hazardous air quality? Should Tennis Australia be more transparent about its air quality policy? And what should be done if air quality is hazardous when the AusOpen starts? Have your say in our Facebook group: Why don't women play the best of 5-sets? They get paid the same as men, so why can't they perform the same? equalpay4equalplay AustralianOpen I would think that unless the games are held indoors they won't go ahead. It's bad for the spectators too, although not to the same degree of course. Could you imagine the crowd sitting in the stands with face masks on while two tennis gladiators fight it out until one defaults?
