Politicians have condemned a brutal police attack with shields and batons on an Australian news team at an anti-racist rally where crowds were forcibly moved away from the White House during President Donald Trump’s address.
Opposition leader Anthony Albanese said “in a democratic society the role of the media is critical, and it’s important the media is able to report on events, including crises such as we’re seeing in the US, free from harassment”. “Our ambassador should certainly be making representation on behalf of these Australians who effectively have been assaulted,” he said.
