Former Australian horse trainer John Nikolic will spend at least 18 years in jail in Fiji after he was sentenced for smuggling drugs, including cocaine.

The yacht Nikolic was captaining, Shenanigans, had travelled other countries, including Colombia, before arriving in FijiNikolic's wife was found not guilty for the same offencesguilty of two charges of importing illicit drugs, and one related to the possession of firearms without a licenceIn the High Court in Suva on Friday,

Justice Daniel Goundar sentenced Nikolic to 23 years in prison for the offences, with an 18-year non-parole period.In sentencing, Justice Goundar outlined the facts of the case, after 13 bars of cocaine and other drugs were found by customs officials on the yacht Nikolic was captaining, Shenanigans, in June, 2018 at Port Denarau.
