Trade and Tourism Minister Birmo says the Australian facing the death penalty in China “shouldn’t necessarily” be viewed as retaliation over recent tensions in the bilateral relationship between the two countries.

Trade and Tourism Minister Simon Birmingham says the Australian facing the death penalty in China “shouldn’t necessarily” be viewed as retaliation over recent tensions in the bilateral relationship between the two countries. Australian man Cam Gillespie was arrested in 2013 after customs officers discovered more than 7.5 kilograms of methamphetamine in his possession. On June 10 Chinese media reported Mr Gillespie will face the death penalty after a court hearing.

Adding to the tensions, the Chinese Education Ministry issued a statement last week warning its students against travelling to study in Australia. Mr Birmingham denied the allegations made by China and told Sky News “the best way to deal with points of difference between nations is dialogue and open discussion”. “We are very happy to sit down and talk through those points of difference and do so in a mature way that is respectful of the relationships we want to have.

Communist China ‘is the Olympic champion for untruths and twisted propaganda’ | Sky News AustraliaThe Communist Party of China is the “Olympic champion for untruths” and “filling their own citizens' heads with twisted propaganda,” according to Sky News host Chris Smith. \n\nMr Smith looked at research conduced about China’s allegation and any apparent truth into the assertion there are racist attitudes towards Chinese students in Australia. \n\nThe Chinese Education Ministry released a statement on Tuesday urging its students to “do a risk assessment” and strongly reconsider travelling to Australia to attend university.\n\nIt also during the coronavirus pandemic “there were multiple discriminating incidents against Asians in Australia”.\n\nMr Smith referenced a University of Melbourne study published this week which he said “found that Chinese students frequently chose Australian universities, because of the perception, that life here was more relaxed and safer, than other western options”. \n\nIt was a five-year study by Associate Professor Fran Martin into the wellbeing of 100 Chinese students. \n\nHe said the study found exclusion, not violence, was the main form of racism students were likely to experience. \n\n“So if the study concludes that some Chinese students might be racially excluded, we've hardly got endemic racism on campuses,” he said. \n\n“We need to treat all this propaganda from Beijing, with the disdain it deserves”. \n\n“And while we're at it, not beat ourselves up, about alleged racism, which is usually based on nothing more, than a nasty hunch.” \n Australian media has no moral high ground saying this when it fills its audiences with nonsense that China is buying out and taking over the country. It would rather say Chinese are brainwashed than come to terms with the fact its whipped up fanatical hysteria about the country. this is literally Nazism we are observing in US-UK-Australia CCP is master of playing dirty tricks. it is against humanity, against free will. Chinese people need a government-for the people, by the people. NewFederalStateofChina If you don't want your future generations to become their slaves, stand up and fight for freedom!!
