Health authorities do not yet know how effective vaccines are in preventing the virus spreading from one person to anotherBrendan Murphy has said he will likely get the AstraZeneca vaccine, while Scott Morrison said he would likely receive the Pfizer jab
Australia's border has been closed to overseas visitors since March last year, and authorities have consistently described that decision as a key part of the Government's pandemic response.would remain for some timeBut on a Facebook Live segment hosted by News Limited, the Health Department Secretary said reopening the border could depend on whether a COVID-19 vaccine could stop the virus from spreading.
"If, as we suspect these vaccines are effective at preventing transmission, the sooner we get the population vaccinated, the sooner people — not only will they be protected, but we will get on this path towards good herd immunity, and that will speed up the return to international travel," he said. While health authorities say the COVID-19 vaccines to be rolled out in Australia will stop people getting sick or dying from COVID-19, they do not yet know how effective they are in preventing the virus spreading from one person to another.

THERE ARE NO VACCINES HERE YET!!! LOT'S OF ANNOUNCEMENTS BUT STILL NO VACCINES
If So they are not sure. Bloody hell
Just NO not yet
But we know it doesn't
Open up as soon as all the vulnerable are vaccinated. Stop the madness.
Mhhhh the borders will open when the government bows down to pressure from universities and tourism. In the end it will not come to the health it come down to dollar. Which really controls the world
I’d call this fake news . No one knows if vaccines will work and they haven’t even started vaccinating. You truly shit me with your Murdoch style of reporting.
We have a vaccine? in Australia?. Screenshot or it didn't happen.
Given we have no local transmission and the world has rushed a usual 5 to 10 year process into less than 12 months, and the govt needs the money from people who come into this country in all areas, this is hard to accept. 'Here have this, we need the money'. notanantivaxxer
“If”? 😬
We will never reach herd immunity, even if vaccinate is effective, until children can be vaccinated, they are not immune. The whole world means everyone regardless of age, colour, sex, job description, economic status etc.
This would be an official Liberal Party announcement endorsed by $600K pa taxpayer funded gavmorris
unis would be happy They would be able to save their ass
What vaccine Has Morrison found one
AstraZeneca was rejected by Switzerland GregHuntMP
So why is everyone saying it doesn't prevent transmission?
👌🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼 Australia_tourism🌏🌎🌍 👋🏼
We haven't started rolling out the vaccine yet. We will require 200,000 vaccinations per day to reach the October target, assuming it isn't further delayed. How are the borders opening sooner than 2021? Can the ABC stop parroting the Government and do actual journalism please?
Now that's genius. Who thunk of that? I'm amazed
