Australian athletes say they’ll compete at Tokyo Games without COVID vaccine shot | app85

The Australian Olympic Committee is confident its 480-strong team will be vaccinated before the delayed Tokyo Games as some of its highest profile athletes maintained they would be happy to compete without the shot.

“We’re very confident we’ll have our athletes and team vaccinated,” Chesterman said at the launch of the Australian team uniforms at Circular Quay on Wednesday. A number of Australia’s medal contenders who have been hampered in their Games preparations due to border closures and travel restrictions helped launch the new uniforms.Asked whether she would want to be vaccinated before heading to Tokyo, Rio gold medallist and rugby sevens star Charlotte Caslick said: “I’m happy to go without the vaccine.

Sailor Lisa Darmanin, who hasn’t competed overseas since the COVID pandemic took hold and looms as one of Australia’s best gold medal chances, claimed she would be happy to travel to Tokyo even if the country’s athletes didn’t receive the vaccine in time.

app85 Foolish decision. They could catch Covid19 and suffer lifetime repercussions.

app85 Seriously?

app85 The idea that we wouldn't make an exception for our Olympic athletes and vaccinate them shows how ridiculous this rollout farce has got. They can have mine and I'll wait till the end of the year.
