Australian authorities make arrests across the country as PNG police seize more than 500 kilograms of cocaine following the crash of a drug smuggling plane this week.

Photos of the truck show hollowed-out sections in the back that police said were intended to hide the drugs.A 33-year-old Niddrie man and a 61-year-old Melbourne man appeared in Melbourne Magistrates Court on Monday, charged with conspiring to import commercial quantities of border-controlled drugs.Assets worth $3.5 million, including three properties, shares, account funds and a motor vehicle have also been "restrained" by police as part of the operation.

I thought I was pretty good with my Australian geography but these places are new to me

My dad grew up in PNG and would often talk about how huge swathes of PNG are completely unexplored, makes sense that they’re growing and processing cocaine there and avoiding having to traffic it all the way from Colombia. Just gotta avoid the head-hunting cannibal tribes.
