Australia takes China on over detained blogger Yang Hengjun | KirstyLNeedham

Foreign Minister Marise Payne has taken the diplomatic gloves off with China over its detention of Australian blogger Yang Hengjun, saying she is "deeply disappointed" he was transferred to criminal detention six months after being detained by Chinese state security.

Dr Yang is being investigated by China's state security services for allegedly endangering national security, but his wife, Yuan Xiaoliang, also a prominent Chinese blogger, released an open letter in April declaring he had never had contact with overseas intelligence agencies and "deeply loves China".

Labor's spokesman for defence Richard Marles said Labor was also "deeply concerned" by Dr Yang's transfer to criminal detention.

KirstyLNeedham Great. Would that she would find the courage to say the same, clearly and unequivocally, to the US over Assange. Pity the habits of subservience to the White Emperor are so ingrained.

KirstyLNeedham Good. We must apply more pressure on the Chinese government. We cannot allow fascist ideology to dictate what happens to Australian citizens.

KirstyLNeedham Lol. Like China cares
