Labor MP fitzhunter says Australians “can’t afford” government policies looking to prematurely close coal-fired power stations as coal trade to Asia is booming.

Labor MP Joel Fitzgibbon says Australians “can’t afford” government policies looking to prematurely close coal-fired power stations as coal trade to Asia is booming. “Seaborn thermal coal trade in volume terms doubled between 2006 and 2019, hundreds of coalfired power generators are being built throughout Asia because those big growing nations need all the coal, gas, nuclear, wind, and solar energy they can get their hands on,” he told Sky News host Chris Kenny.

fitzhunter Bravo Joel Fitzgibbon, finally someone prepared to voice the real “inconvenient truth” on the role of thermal coal for Australia. Is SCOMO (aka Malcolm 2.0) listening? Not likely, he’s developed a good pair of tin ears.

fitzhunter maybe Joel Fitzgibbon can answer why my gas bill has almost doubled, I am an Age Pensioner who lives alone, my usage is tiny but the supply charge is huge, why am I subsidising billion dollar corporates? Auspol

fitzhunter The Proof is in the Pudding: WB More renewables & Energy becomes more costlier. 2021 In Germany, consumers had to subsidize green energy to the tune of 31 billion euro last year. Little surprise, Germans now pay the highest electricity prices in the world: Bjorn Lomborg

fitzhunter It’s too late. By the time new coal fired power stations are approved people will be having compulsory candlelight dinners thanks to Matt_KeanMP who has no modelling, no costing and no mandate. How federal parliament let this national security issue slide by is beyond me.

fitzhunter Finally a Labor member that knows what constituents want. Lets hope he still gets rolled by One Nation next election. He's had plenty time to shore up coal.

fitzhunter Our environment can’t afford to keep them running.

fitzhunter Well done fitzhunter

fitzhunter Not the sharpest tool in the shed that boy. Definitely a tool tho.

Sky News takes a look at the lasting legacy of National Cabinet | Sky News AustraliaA year after it was first established National Cabinet has permanently transformed Australia’s federation framework.\n\nOriginally convened to coordinate the pandemic response National Cabinet has been the scene of unprecedented unity and disunity between the premiers and the prime minster. \n ScottytheCoward blames the states for everything, is that how it works? It’s clear to see what Palachook is so on edge with every case, check in codes in QLD are adhoc multiple apps are being used, contract tracing would be a nightmare, they are obviously not up for the task. Once again NSW leading the way, one app only for check in class tracers! Duh A bunch of zoom meetings has not 'permanently transformed Australia’s federation framework.' Does have any new constitutional powers? Australia’s federation framework is stone by the Aussie parliament.
