Breaking: Australia has recorded its first case of coronavirus, a man aged in his 50s, the Victorian Health Minister has announced.

Australia has recorded its first case of coronavirus, a man aged in his 50s, Victorian Health Minister Jenny Mikakos announced today.

Ms Mikakos said the risk of transmission remained low but Victorian and commonwealth officials would be stationed at Melbourne Airport and a hotline would be set up for people to get information about coronavirus. "This is an evolving situation. We are now one of eleven countries who have confirmed cases," Ms Mikakos said.

The man has pneumonia and is in a stable condition, she said. Hospital staff treating him are wearing masks, gloves, and gowns while treating the man in an isolated room in the Monash Medical Centre.

As far as I know, there were still people who stayed at Wuhan landing in Australia on flights from other Chinese cities, and quite a few were school children. Imagine the scale of threat when schools reopen. The Chinese community are urging self-quarantine.

Coronavirus is effectively plague. Border Control should never have let people land at Sydney airport. Who is in charge? If more come from Wahun, will we continue to let them in? Thousands could die. I feel so unprotected.

This is why token screening at the airport is useless. If you want to get serious, then put everyone who returns from china in quarantine for 2 weeks. Who gives a s*** if you hurt their feelings. Well worth the cost. Get on to it early.

That’s not good news 😷

So China Quarantines 40million but we got open borders for those travelling from ground zero? Yo AusBorderForce where you at?
