Sky News host Chris Kenny has reflected on the “greatness” of Captain James Cook saying, “this is a man who pushed the boundaries of human endurance and curiosity”.

Wednesday marks 250 years since Captain Cook’s voyage to Australia, in which he landed at Botany Bay. “The entire scientific world owes much to his endeavours, but we in Australia owe him a special debt," Mr Kelly said.

Mr Kenny said while he is “never one to downplay the continuing horrible disadvantage of Indigenous Australians, I also celebrate the fact that this history brought our ancestors together”. “Because the advantages we enjoy together today, still outweigh the disadvantages that we must overcome”. Looking back to those times we can now recognize that the British were generally delusionally arrogant and suffering from a major superiority complex.

It's good that Cook is dead, but would be better if Kenny followed soon.

Captain Cook used wind power...the ABC crowd must luv him

Incredible endurance and Determination

He was a resolute hard worker

Only idiots choose not to acknowledge our history. It may not be a perfect story but it's ours. FFS people have some pride in your country and it's origins. Accept what it was and learn lessons from it.

'Chris Kenny has reflected on' Here is a tip. Chain that Gimp in the basement

Oh my.....what a ridiculous and insensitive comment.

Cook was an imperialist of his age. Best forgotten in a changed world.

Squatter with sailing skills.

250 years since Captain Cook arrived in Australia, his legacy remains fraughtWednesday marks 250 years since HMS Endeavour sailed into Botany Bay. A descendent of one of the Aboriginal men he first encountered there says the anniversary is an emotional one. 'She was told by her elders that in 1770, Cook left casks of dynamite on the shore, rigged to blow up.' Emotional, cos he’s so thankful for things like electricity, the internet, healthcare and food security etc etc etc etc and he doesn’t have to go out hunter gathering every day and will live past 35? He should be emotional. He wouldn’t exist if not for Cook . 🙏
