The deputy leader of theis speaking in Sydney defending the stage-three tax cuts, amid indications Labor could be reconsidering the cuts.

The cuts would abolish the current 37% tax bracket and lower the existing 32.5% level. However, amid changing economic conditions and talks of a global recessions, the government has started to change their language on the issue. While Labor ministers continue to say they are committed to stage-three tax cuts, the skills minister,, did this morning confirm there are active conversations going on within government about the stage-three tax cuts. For people earning $45,000 to $120,000 a year, this is about reducing the tax on your next dollar from 32.5c to 30c. For those earning more than 120,000 but less than 180,000, it is about reducing your tax burden. The tax on your next dollar from 37c to 30c.

Ley has called out the prime minister’s silence on the issue, criticising that he has made time to talk about botox on radio and go to Midnight Oil concerts but not been upfront about tax cuts: Labor want to disproportionately focus on and demonise those earning a good income. It’s a return to the class war rhetoric we saw in 2019 and if they want to stand around in Sydney, where I’m standing now, and tell people that they earn too much to deserve tax relief they were promised, and they should say that.

There was ‘always scepticism’ that Labor would follow through on stage three cutsSky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell says there was 'always scepticism' that Labor would follow through on stage three cuts for 'obvious reasons'. 'Labor had opposed the tax cuts in the parliament after all, so there was suspicion that they were just saying they were going to carry the tax cuts through at the election in order to win the election' Mr Clennell Mr Clennell commented, 'we knew there was high inflation then'. 'The Finance Minister and Treasurer keep saying they are being upfront, but ... they are not telling us what they are going to do,' he said. 'If you look at Jim Chalmers' comments this week, he wants to amend the stage three tax cuts.' Mr Clennell said the 'key question' is whether the Prime Minister and the Treasurer are 'on the same page'. Yes agree...Labor looked like they actually understood economics and the disaster these cuts would be but are wedged by Dutton/ScoMo as these were designed to be a trap..imagine if Dutton bipartisan said the country can't afford..instant makeover from ScoMo AlboMP was put in a corner to support tax cuts as election was on the horizon, ScoMo played Labor like a violin. For Albo to give some sort of misguided loyalty to LNP & ScoMo is laughable. The tax cuts are obscene & unaffordable, do as your mentor Paul Keating did & cancel them

Reserve Bank fovernor Philip Lowe has become the accidental hero of world equity marketsFor markets, the RBA rate move represented the first international glimmer of hope that other central banks will follow in the coming months. The RBA has a lot of smart people. A lot smarter than the commentators. Nope. He is not. He looks more like a person who is clueless. Look at RBNZ. They are still doing the right thing unlike Phillip Lowe who just don’t seem to get anything right. Stevens TinTin
