The Australian’s editor-at-large Paul Kelly says Australia needs to maintain “strategic ambiguity” when it comes to the issue of Taiwan.

“We need to maintain the current policy; we need to maintain strategic ambiguity as the approach to this issue which has been the approach for many decades now,” Mr Kelly told Sky News Australia.

“That’s the approach, essentially that Scott Morrison and Foreign Minister Marise Payne have followed.” He said he thinks it was “unwise” for Peter Dutton to comment a couple of weeks ago that it would be “inconceivable” Australia would not be involved in conflict if the United States got involved. He said he also does not agree with Shadow Foreign Minister Penny Wong’s claim the Morrison government is “amplifying the Beijing fatalistic position that the only answer on Taiwan is unificational war”.

I say bullshit to Paul Kelly! It’s time Australia grew some and stood up against China in support of Taiwan! How many years must we continue to bow down before China. We have watched them militarise the South China Sea for decades and done nothing!

Is Keating Chinese?

Doesn't matter what we say or do, if the US goes in, we'll follow like the obedient lapdog this Coalition government has made us which makes us a prime target as China has missile capabilities to directly strike us.

Another China apologists, then again can't expect much from someone called Wong. What a disgrace. Appeasement didn’t work in the 1930s with an aggressive, expansionist regime… has she learned nothing or is Labor’s policy to simply welcome in our new mandarin overlords? A welcome voice of reason. Thank you Senator Wong.
