OPINION: Australia is a hotspot for climate-related lawsuits. So can the courts help solve global warming?

are warning superfunds, banks and insurers to expect greater scrutiny of their climate risk management.Courts are not a panacea, though, for the ills of climate change inaction.

They are limited to dealing with the cases that are brought before them and can't directly make climate policy. Australian company directors nominate climate change as the number one issue they want the government to address in the long-term, in a survey of more than 1,200 business leaders.Nonetheless, in Australia and around the world, courts are showing that they can be an active player in shaping how the law applies to climate change.

Was this supposed to be on ABC Comedy ?

The ABC is clearly getting desperate, now that the Otis group in the ALP is threatening to throw CC hysteria out the window.

Bushfires royal commission 'ignores the role Australia must play in reducing global emissions'The proposed bushfire inquiry's instructions play down the seriousness of climate change, the ACT's leader says. Of course it does. Nothing is good enough for the emissions doom cult. Lol, on the authority of the ACT government. A Royal Commission is simply an opportunity for lawyers and “experts” to debate and get rich. Deflects attention from Govt incompetence - nothing will change - Banking RC is proof of that. Waste of money.

Australia is 'routinely slammed' for emissions reductions by the 'climate cult' | Sky News AustraliaSky News host Peta Credlin says the “one-sided climate protests” which predominantly target Australia and “Trump’s America”, show how the “climate cult is less about reducing emissions than affirming belief”.\n\nBoth Australia and the US have reduced the carbon emissions by “13 per cent since 2005,” a stark contrast to Canada led by the “ultra-woke” Justin Trudeau who have cut emissions by only two per cent in the same time.\n\nAlthough Australia is “routinely slammed” for reportedly “not doing enough”, it is “one of very few countries” who have reliably met its emissions targets, Ms Credlin said.\n\nThe “climate zealots”, said the Sky News host, believe meeting emissions reductions targets - “as Australia is doing' - is not “nearly as important” as proclaiming that “climate change is the world’s gravest problem”.\n\n“We shouldn't allow the climate zealots to misrepresent the facts because compromising our economic fundamentals to strike a pose overseas is a betrayal of our countries future security,” said Ms Credlin.\n\nImage: Getty\n So true credlin CREDLIN PULL YOUR HEAD IN Odd. Liberal moderates fear coal-fired power debate could risk climate policy | Sky News AustraliaA bloc of Liberal moderates reportedly hold concerns a flare-up in the coal-fired power debate could risk the climate policy 're-set' promised by Scott Morrison following the last election, says Sky News Political Reporter Tom Connell. \n\nDiscussion have been underway since the re-election of the Morrison Government, with the prime minister promising the Liberal MPs the government would refocus its policy and promote technology as a way to reduce emissions. \n\nMr Connell said while moderate Liberals do not want to create instability, one MP said their backs were against the wall on climate change in a whole host of city seats.\n\n“They believe from interactions with voters that many seats were only saved last time because of economic issues, including franking credits,” he said. \n\n'Most Liberals are working on the assumption Collinsville will not be found to be a viable option, and from there a technology re-set can be the focus.'
