Australia ranks last for manufacturing self-sufficiency among its global peers, producing goods worth only about 70 per cent of the amount it consumes

AMWU boss Paul Bastian says the federal government should change procurement rules to boost domestic purchasing.The report's author, Jim Stanford, said the data showed Australia was an outlier among its international peers.

I have always thought that Australia is a market economy country. I am glad to see that Australian friends are now learning about planned economy and replacing the market with policies.

What more would you expect with high costs of production including green and red tape, high wages and the some of the worlds most expensive power
