Health Minister Greg Hunt has written to the head of Pfizer Australia asking the pharmaceutical company to provide data on the effectiveness of its vaccine in young kids as soon as possible as some children’s health experts say children should be vaccinated as a matter of priority.. That trial data is yet to be published, but Pfizer said it would be applying for emergency approval from the US medical regulator before making similar applications in Europe.
Commonwealth Chief Nursing and Midwifery officer Professor Allison McMillan said Australia has more than enough supplies to give vaccines to children under the age of 12 as soon as it was approved. “The TGA will take all of those internationally agreed-to guidelines about assessing that clinical data. When that’s done, then we can start working to the administering of this vaccine to children, five to 11,” she said.Epidemiologist Professor Mary-Louise McLaws said the Delta variant has a similar reproduction rate to whooping cough, which has a hospitalisation rate of about 2 per cent.
“At the end of the day, we don’t have an approved vaccine for younger children anywhere in the world, and we do need to wait for the science to come in because children are different to adults and [in] their response to vaccines,” he told the committee.
Oh so now he wants to meet with Pfizer. What happened to that request from Pfizer to meet him last year which could have saved us from a year of lockdowns?
strategieduchoc that's total insanity
