The devastating floods in NSW and Queensland have left a nation shocked but generous Aussies have responded in the only way they know how - by raising millions of dollars for the victims. 9News

Australians have been shocked by the images coming out of Queensland and NSW over the last ten days, with families losing loved ones and homes, helpless residents taking refuge on roofs, vehicles sinking in flood waters and animals scrambling to find shelter.

There was support from the other governments around the country too. The states of WA and Victoria donated $2million, with $1m from South Australia. Singers performed from Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, the Brisbane Convention Centre and Nine's studios in Sydney. The appeal crossed live to Brunswick Heads where former Nine Network CEO David Gyngell, soap opera royalty Delvene Delaney, tennis legend Pat Rafter, surfing champ Mick Fanning and actress Bridie Carter shared their experiences in the Northern Rivers.

Why should we.... the govt is spending 100 billion on toys of HATE.... this could be better served upon citizens and infrastructure

The money won’t go to the victims

You really should have said generous aussies have responded because the federal government don’t. Or something along those line ScottyDoesNothing

How many cents were dollar raised will go to victims please?

Has Harvey Norman donated any job seeker money?

It is sickening to rely on donations when the government wastes so much money on themselves

Please tell us how much of the 4.6 billion dollar emergency response fund has been spent?

Why is it always the people providing funds and relief while the government does f*ck all ScottyDoesNothing

Part of this was hearing that all the money was going straight to flood victims as grants rather than what we seen happen to the money raised for fire victims which disappeared due to laws and greedy governments
