Australia makes a positive start at the rowing regatta in Tokyo, while its archery squad also begins competition in the preliminary stages at the Games.

Australia has qualified for the men's quadruple sculls final at the Tokyo Olympics, as the rowing regatta gets underway ahead of this evening's opening ceremony.

The Dutch, who are world champions in the event, crossed the line in a time of 5 minutes and 39.80 seconds, with Australia finishing 1.74 seconds behind.Amanda Bateman and Tara Rigney placed third in their women's double sculls heat to automatically qualify for Monday's semi-finals.
