Fourteen-time PGA champion Aussie Adam Scott has admitted there is frustration among players over the new ranking system, amid a flurry of public controversy around the new methodology.
Adam Scott of Australia said the new world golf rankings system was being amended, as far as he is aware. In August 2022, the PGA announced the new system in which Major Championships would continue to award 100 First-Place Points, while The Players Championship would award 80, with all other tournaments awarding Ranking Points according to the strength and depth of their fields, with a maximum of 80 First-Place Points.
The former US Open champion won the Sentry Tournament of Champions in Hawaii over the weekend with a comeback for the ages when he overhauled Collin Morikawa’s seven-shot lead in the final round. “Since the playoffs ... I’ve won three times and I don’t even get close to him. So I’m trying to understand what’s going on,” Rahm said.
