Australian politicians Andrew Hastie and Anthony Byrne played a crucial role in overturning the pro-Huawei policy in the United Kingdom according to Former Labor Senator Stephen Conroy.

In a major about-turn, Prime Minister Boris Johnspm banned the purchase of any new 5G equipment from the Chinese tech giant from the end of this year. Downing Street previously allowed Huawei to have a role in the UK's 5G infrastructure, a decision made little more than six months ago.

Mr Conroy, who banned Huawei from the Australian National Broadband Network build in 2011, pointed out much had changed in the world since the UK government first decided allow Huawei into the 5G network. He commended Mr Hastie and Mr Byrn for working behind the scenes with the UK Foreign Minister and a number of backbenchers to force the Johnson government to take the “potential for Chinese infiltration seriously”.

Congratulations, now you can do the same for home and workplace passive surveillance from Google, Alexia, Apple? Hypocritical bastards...

This is to do with Brexit. The UK, losing free access to 27 neighbours' markets, now dances to the USA's tune.

AStrongerOZ Good for them

Can confirm if Andrew Hastie was on either Zulu 1 or Zulu 2 during the raids being investigated by the Defence force in Afghanistan?

UK reverses approval to Huawei on 5GBoris Johnson's government has banned the use of new Huawei equipment in Britain's 5G rollout from the end of the year in a stunning about-turn after the Prime Minister's green light just seven months ago Was always going to happen .. the globe is splitting down the middle getting ready for war You are allowed to 'about-turn' if you find new information that says you should. Chi-na is not our friend. I don't understand why it will take until 2027 to get Huawei out of the 5G network. Its a clear security issue, so why aren't they using emergency measures to roll back and extricate themselves?
